Air District Workshop on Refinery Rules 3/18

Last year the Bay Area Air Quality Management District agreed to develop rules that will reduce refinery air pollution, including greenhouse gases, by 20% by 2020. Now its staff proposes rules that could increase this pollution!

Join us to demand that our the BAAQMD’s elected board:

  • Reject its staff’s ‘crude throughput’ exemption that allows refinery emissions to increase when more oil is refined.
  • Reject its staff’s ‘greenhouse gas’ exemption. allowing unlimited increases in refinery emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs).
  • Enact a moratorium on air permits for oil projects until it fixes its broken air rules.

Citizens for a Better Environment (CBE) developed talking points you may want to use to help shape your own statement. Download the talking points.

BAAQMD will be holding four public workshops in Benicia, Richmond, Martinez and San Francisco on March 16-20.

We must pack these workshops and make our voices heard for the health and safety of our communities and the planet!
