Key Al. County Community Choice Energy Vote 10/4

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors (BoS) is scheduled to take a key vote on moving forward on the county's community choice energy (CCE) program on October 4th. The BoS will be voting on approving a draft Joint Powers Authority (JPA) agreement, approval of the final feasibility study, and a decision to proceed with the next phases of setting up and launching the CCE program. The Local Clean Energy Alliance (LCEA), an important ally of 350 Bay Area's, is asking folks to attend the meeting to support the program, and to support an amendment to the proposed Joint Powers Agreement. From LCEA:

"Labor and environmental justice advocates have negotiated for weeks to craft this unity platform, which would require the community choice program to complete a business plan for local renewable energy development prior to launching the program and would prohibit the use of unbundled renewable energy credits (RECs). There is strong consensus among clean energy advocates that unbundled RECs represent greenwashed fossil fuel energy and should play no role in our program."

LCEA will have a press conference before hand at 10:15am.
