Legislative Update Meeting 6/25

We’re having a legislative committee meeting on Sunday, June 25, 3-5pm at the Sierra Club Bay Chapter offices, 2530 San Pablo Avenue, Suite I, Berkeley.

The state Senate just passed the year’s most important climate bill, SB 100, which calls for California to get all of its electricity from wind, water and sun by 2045. Bill author Kevin de León calls it the most ambitious program in the country.  Help us plan visits to our legislators and other strategies as SB 100 approaches a more difficult vote in the state Assembly.

We have a lot of information to share and a lot of planning to do. Almost all our priority bills have now either passed to the opposite house or failed for this year. We’ll report on the successes and the failures, what we’ve learned, and what the prospects are for the next round.

And we’ll plan our legislative strategy through the rest of the legislative session, including a new round of visits to Bay Area legislators.

I hope you can join us.

Finally on a positive note, California continues to lead the opposition to Trump’s anti-climate insanity http://sd24.senate.ca.gov/news/2017-06-01-senators-urge-governor-brown-convene-climate-summit

Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
