Second Vote to Keep Oakland Coal-Free 7/19

On June 27, the Oakland City Council voted 7-0 to keep coal exports out of Oakland. For more information, see this article about the vote. We joined No Coal in Oakland in large numbers to demand that the City Council pass a ban on coal, and we won! Per Council procedure, they will need to take a second reading and second vote on the ordinance, which will occur on July 19th. We must make sure that this stays a victory, and stop politically influential developer Phil Tagami from getting his way.

The coal measures are item 7.16 on the council's agenda for the July 19th meeting, which starts at 5pm. The re-reading and vote is on the consent calendar, which means that the items are likely to come up early in the evening.
