BLACK, GREEN, AND TRAUMATIZED
Environmental trauma has catastrophic impacts on our community. African Americans are dying at higher rates from the Covid-19 virus than other races, largely because Black communities face a disproportionate burden of environmental toxins. Join the Center for Food Faith and Justice, Green The Church, Seeds for Peace, and the Black Church Food Security Network for a discussion of the intersection of environmental justice and mental health in the African American community and solutions toward avenues of equity.

Join a livestream program bringing together voices of community and labor activists with music, poetry and more. Jobs with Justice, PODER, Senior Disability Action and SEIU 1021 are putting together a photo montage of youth, workers, and community members holding signs calling for a Just Recovery including messages about what we need now! We need your help!

This webinar will focus on what a just transition means for workers in California, and how the vision of a Green New Deal can guide the much-needed economic recovery from the COVID crisis. We’ll be calling and emailing our members of Congress and state representatives demanding their support for a People’s Bailout for Californians and all of us. We’ll be providing training on how to effectively contact your representatives, including tips and scripts for calling and emailing them, give some informational background on what the People’s Bailout actually is, and provide a space for community and movement building beyond Earth Day.

We will also see how the community is maintaining social solidarity while remaining physically distant during a global pandemic.
